Lareum is built so your home data stays on your own computer. This policy explains the small amount of information Hatch Media LLC ("we" or "us") does collect to run your account and the website, why, and your choices.
1. What stays on your computer
Your home record, systems and appliances, maintenance schedule, memories, conversations, attached files and photos stay on the computer where Lareum is installed. The AI model runs on that computer too. Dictation is turned into text on your device; the recording isn't sent anywhere. None of this is sent to us.
2. What we collect
Your account: your email address, the language you chose, your device's time zone (to know roughly where members are), and from Stripe your customer and subscription IDs, your plan, its status and dates, and your billing address (country, state or region, city and postal code). We never see or store your card number; Stripe handles it.
If you subscribe in the iPhone app: from Apple, your subscription's transaction IDs, plan, status, renewal setting and dates, and a random identifier the app attaches to your purchase so it belongs to your account. Apple handles the payment; we never see your Apple Account details or payment method.
Signing in: sign-in codes and links (stored only in scrambled form, and only until they're used or expire), the public part of any passkey you add (the private part never leaves your device), the session that keeps you signed in on the website, and, for each computer signed in to the app, its name as set on that computer and when it last checked your plan.
Downloads: which installers your account downloaded and when, and a count of downloads by day and platform. And anything you choose to send us by email.
3. Phone access through the relay
When your phone talks to Lareum away from home, the messages pass through our relay sealed with end-to-end encryption. The relay can't read them and doesn't store them. It handles only what's needed to route them, such as IP addresses and connection times.
The Lareum phone app uses the camera only to scan the pairing code and to photograph appliance labels, and the photo library only for photos you choose. Those photos go only to your computer, through the encrypted relay or directly over your home network; we never receive them. The app keeps its pairing key in the phone's secure storage and has no ads, trackers or analytics. Its demo uses a sample home and sends nothing.
When your computer can't be reached, the iPhone app shows a copy of your home record that it keeps on the phone (refreshed whenever the phone reaches your computer, and deleted when you unpair) and can answer with Apple Intelligence: on the phone itself, or through Apple's Private Cloud Compute, which Apple designed not to keep your data. We don't receive any of it. You can turn this off in the app's Settings.
Web search: when Lareum looks something up for you, it first searches Lareum Search, our own index of home, safety and manufacturer pages and product recalls, on lareumai.com; the search words are sent with your app's sign-in and aren't stored. If that finds too little, or the question is about local businesses, your computer searches DuckDuckGo, Mojeek or Wikipedia directly. To find local pros near you, it looks up your town or ZIP code (never your street address) on OpenStreetMap. Lareum leaves out your name and home details. Pages Lareum reads are opened directly from your computer, so those websites see your IP address like any visit. You can turn web access off in the app, under Devices.
4. The website
Like most web servers, ours keeps standard logs (IP address, browser, pages requested and times) for a limited time, for security and to fix problems. The website loads its fonts from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address. We use one cookie to keep you signed in, and your browser remembers your language choice. There are no ads, analytics or tracking.
5. Services we use
Stripe processes payments and sends billing emails under its own privacy policy. Our website and relay run on servers in the United States. When the app downloads its AI model, it connects to Ollama's model library, and the first time you use dictation it downloads a speech model from Hugging Face; those services see your IP address.
Apple processes payments made in the iPhone app under its own privacy policy.
6. How we use it
Only to run Lareum: to create your account, bill your plan, check that it's active, send sign-in codes and service messages, answer you, keep the service secure and meet legal obligations. We don't sell your information, share it for advertising, or use it to train AI.
7. How long we keep it
We keep your account information while you have an account. When you ask us to delete it, we delete it, except billing records we must keep for tax and accounting, usually up to 7 years.
You can delete your account yourself in the iPhone app (Settings, then Account, then Delete account), or by writing to us.
8. Your rights
You can ask to see, correct, export or delete the information we hold about you, by emailing hello@lareumai.com. We answer within 30 days, wherever you live. Depending on where you live (for example in the EU, the UK or California), you may have further rights under local law, including the right to complain to your data protection authority.
9. Children
Lareum isn't meant for children, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 13. If you think a child has given us information, tell us and we'll delete it.
10. Security
The website uses HTTPS, sign-in codes and tokens are stored only in scrambled form, and account data is kept outside the website's public folders. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect what we hold and will tell you if a breach affects you.
11. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll tell you by email or on this site before the change applies.
